About Photo Geography

A photographic RECORD and INTERPRETATION of the EARTH'S PHYSICAL LANDSCAPES. This group has two main objectives:

Create a survey, a snapshot in our time, of the earth's physiography, which in this form will not be possible anymore in the future.

Bring together the two great reservoirs of photography and of knowledge of the earth's surface.

Invitation to members:

Welcome to PHOTO GEOGRAPHY! This group attempts to collect as much geographic information for each photograph as possible. Nevertheless, members are welcome to submit photographs of physiographic significance with whatever minimal information they have, for example: name, location, approximate date or season, approximate direction of view etc. If closely related photographs on Flickr are known, please provide reference to them.

For more specific information (i.e. name of a plant, rock, physiographic feature etc.) we invite any fellow photographers or knowledgeable viewers to contribute factual comments or links to related text and other related (possibly older) photographs. That way both, photographs and information, will grow ever more valuable in the long term.

As a guide to the earth's physiographic habitats and landscapes, we would like to follow the lists of (over 1000) ecoregions provided by the WORLD WILDLIFE FUND, available on the internet at:
