For those of you who are into stats, here's a tool I've written to track and plot daily growth statistics of public Flickr groups:

dev.nitens.org/flickr/group_trackr.php

Once a group is tracked, daily growth statistics for the group:
• are plotted on a graph;
• can be syndicated through RSS/ATOM feeds;
• can be exported as CVS/TSV.
(please bear in mind that statistics are retrieved on a daily basis, so on the first day of activity all the reports—graph, feeds, CSV—will be empty).

Feedback welcome.

egorgry, the URL works fine here, and apparently it works for many other users who have started posting new groups to the tracker.

Could you please detail on:
I can't access the URL posted ?

- Does the connection time out?
- Do you get an empty screen?
- Do you get a server error message? (e.g. 500 or 404)?
- Do you see a page with partial contents or broken layout?
- Can you access the parent node: dev.nitens.org/flickr/
- What browser are you using?

Maybe switching to a different browser or emptying your browser cache may help?

Version 0.3 adds experimental support for related groups.

Feedback welcome (I'm pretty happy so far with the accuracy of group similarity links but there are still many weird results).

Bumping this thread to announce a brand new feature that I've just added to the latest version (0.4) of Group Trackr.

Different graphs are now available displaying comparative statistics for currently tracked groups.

group stats geekness

Please note that only groups with at least one day of tracked activity are displayed in these comparative graphs. Single groups can be highlighted with a red marker as in the example above simply by following the "Compare" link from the group statistics page:

This feature provides statistics similar to those collected by gustavog in January 2005 (although on a different sample and updated on a daily basis).

Feedback welcome, as usual.

hey Won-Tolla, glad you like it. My hoster had issues due to some severe power outage, but now everything seems to be working again.

Group Trackr: new features

The latest version of Group Trackr (0.6) features full activity reports: new graphs are available to display the overall activity of a group (cumulative growth and daily variation) since it has been tracked. If your group has more than 10 days of tracked activity, full activity reports can be displayed following the link in the advanced reports section.
