21 Feb 12 - The 2012 "Great Backyard Bird Count" is now history. The Group Pool remains open for submissions of your photos!!!

This GROUP is always open for discussion and for posting photos in discussion threads! We will close the pool for additions on March 6th, which is also the deadline for submitting your counts for this year.. If you have photos taken DURING the count and want to add them after that, just let one of us know.

About ** Great Backyard Bird Count 2012 is OVER**

We had a fabulous Great Backyard Bird Count in 2009, 2010 and 2011, with some wonderful photos posted. Yesterday, the 2012 Count ended. I hope many of you will continue to join in some discussions of your experiences and some "count" lists, and anything else related to the Count. I'd also like for us to do a bit of "brainstorming" about how to involve other people next year. One way, of course, is to bring friends who love wild birds to join in the count!!!

This is a group for photos taken during Presidents' Day Weekend (February 17th - 20th, 2012). This is a very specific focus and photos taken on ANY other dates will be deleted without notice. There are hundreds of Birding groups on Flickr and most of them are "general interest" and they would welcome gladly your photos of birds that are NOT specific to this one weekend. If you have photos you didn't post during the applicable time frame, and still want to post them, please contact an "ADMIN" and we will help with that even though the pool is closed for posting.

Participation is free and affords an excellent opportunity to participate in important observations of birds and their habits.

I welcome anyone and everyone who will be participating in the Count, and I'm anxious to see your photos of your observations.

I shouldn't have to say this, but for the record: no photos of dead birds - period; no photos that are not 100% "safe" for small children to view, etc. No caged birds or birds in Aviarums or zoos or aquariums. This is STRICTLY a "wild" bird count! Violators will be banned without warning.
