Hi new here, I got one of these and although it is pricey it works just fine as long as get the software to run it, (they forgot to included mine in the package lol). Once running I use the GBCamdump program or gbcam program to convert the pictures. Also I am running on Vista and the only downside I found is I loose the frames to the pictures, which I get using my Madcatz program on my old laptop running ME..

There's three Madcats linkers left on ebay. The price is right too.

I got one of these and also didn't get any disk/info with it but a bit of googling easily found the drivers. (after I'd got windows running on my mac via Parallels software that is)..
It's pretty nice! Expecially fun putting the sav's into Gieskes genius GB camera - animated gif converter online: gieskes.nl/gameboy-camera/

Well, I've just bought the SmartBoy cart + programmer, and it works like a charm with the GBCam! :D

Is this thing easy to use or does it require a bunch fussing each time you wanna transfer your pics? I gave up on madcatz with xp, it refuses to work no matter what directions I follow. I was planing on buying an old tower to put 98 on, but if this thing actually works.....

I works fine. Needs a special driver that comes with the device or can be found freely on the internet. Installs as a USB=>Serial device and allow MUCH faster transfer. You just have to download the RAM off your cart using the utility that comes with it (which is natively compatible with XP) and use a program to extract the raw data to .BMP. The program most people use for this is "GBCameraDump" and it can be found freely as well.
Using this method instead of downloading with the madcatz cable on XP literally cut the transfer/file formatting time down an order of magnitude.
If you're giving up on MadCatz, please do what I'm doing and give the hardware away to someone who can use it.

I did buy one month ago via paypal the USB Cartidge programmer at 8bitcollective and got no answer, info or even the product.
Be careful if you decide to get this.
Still looking for other options, anyone jknow where can I get a cartidge to download the pics from GBC to my computer?
Thanks,
Roc

The cart from Kitch-Bent works great. I got it in 2 days. I asked the merchant to see if he could sell the USB reader separately, since those using it for just a GBC do not need the programmable cart.

Hi all,
i´ve never heard about this device.... I was trying to buy a madcatz, but now i´m interested in knowing more about it.
How it works with gb camera? I can take the photos and then put the cartridge in this device and plug them in a usb port? It´s just it?
Thanks people!
