Welcome!

We are established professionals who aren't established photgraphers.

United by a love for photography.
We count bankers, doctors and business people among our number. While we don't work as photographers, we wish we did 15 years ago - and still do. We are followers of Besson's decisive moment - just seconds behind, and have a vibrant film community (even if it sits expired in freezers).

Our skills develop through discussion, acquiring gear and hanging out with other Lifers. And If we can't improve, it's ok to bring others down.

What makes a good photo?
We think it's the bokeh- but the jury's been out on that since '85. We believe that discussing the right multicoating and shake reduction inspires great photography, as does showing off your pristine Leica M8.

Join our cause.
Gather your gear. Stalk the streets for prey (any prey - bins are good, they don't move). Feel like a pro. Join us! We have made expeditions to the same locations since 1975.

Get a Life.
There is no pressure to perform. There are others just like you who'd love to meet you.

Submission Guidelines
This is an OPEN group. Please only post your BEST WORK, assuming you do shoot. Everyone can comment on your work, but please be POLITE. If you need to critique, do so indirectly. Sarcasm is key.

Looking for other GALs? We're oft confused with the GALs pornographic chapter. While they share common founding principles and a fondness for KY classic (we like it on filters, they on subjects) few or them have actually ever shot anything vaguely naughty under age 50.
