That too bright flash . . .
|
In trying to figure out how to bracket my photos (was just reading about it on the digital photography school forum) I figured out how to turn the flash down. I didn't realize I could do it (and maybe you haven't either) so here are some instructions:
Push the up button (above set)
Which will bring you to the exposure options
Push up again
This will bring you to the auto bracket options (what I was looking for before . . . really cool)
Push up again
Now you get to flash. If you move the yellow bar toward the negative side, it will turn down the flash.
We no longer have to live in fear of using the flash! We can bring it down (and without the silly things like napkins - which I have used).

Great information, Becky! I was trying to figure out how to do this the other day, and I didn't have my manual with me. Needless to say, it was and exercise in frustration. :)

I usually tone down the flash too, as I don't like the unnatural whiteness it brings to photos. I wish I didn't have to use flash at all, but indoor night parties make it necessary :(

If the surrounding light is warm, and i want to catch the atmosphere, i tone down the flash AND in the white-balance menue, i chose the option "only flash-light" (wb and the symbol for flash).
I got really nice photos with this.

Those are real nice tips. piefke78 what you posted really made me see those results to know how it came out. I will test it out myself too, but it would be nice if you post a couple pictures using that setting you described.
This thread was helpful, thanks to all who shared info, especially becky who wrote about it.

I`m new, so there are no fotos.
The fotos which are took with these settings are private christmas photos, so i won't post them in the internet.
@invisible2u: if you send me your e-mail adress, i can send you some examples.
