About Future Places Festival

Curated by Heitor Alvelos and Karen Gustafson, FUTURE PLACES 2009 is a meeting of people with one question in mind: if digital media can do so much for global communication, knowledge and creativity, how can it contribute to local cultural development?
After the success of the first edition in 2008, where we surveyed current successful projects from very diverse backgrounds and fields of knowledge, FUTURE PLACES will dedicate its 2009 edition to strategic approaches.
FUTURE PLACES takes place in Porto, Portugal, where the challenges and potential of digital media to transform the social and cultural fabric are very evident. Join us for two weeks of exhibitions, films, performances, concerts, lectures, parties and workshops - and bring your ideas and your stories!
