About Fort Sumter National Monument Visitor Photos

For over 60 years, visitors have taken the short ferry ride from Charleston or Mount Pleasant to the island fortification where the Civil War began.

Fort Sumter National Monument was established on April 28, 1948 and opened for visitation soon afterward. From the very beginning visitors have captured their experiences at Fort Sumter on film. Now we're hoping to see those pictures shared here!

The Fort Sumter National Monument Visitor Photos group is a place where visitors young and old can share their experiences through photos and discussions. This is a public discussion where we hope people will share their stories about Fort Sumter however, we do not allow graphic, obscene, explicit or racial comments or submissions, nor do we allow comments that are abusive, hateful or intended to defame anyone or any organization.
