About Friendly Photo Contest

This is our weekly attempt at a friendly contest amongst friends. The purpose is to get our creative juices flowing and get everyone out there to shoot every week with a particular topic in mind.

How it works:

Rule 1: You must take the photo you submit every week during that week. No going through your files and uploading something old. That's not the point. We want everyone to be challenged and pushed to be creative every week.

Rule 2: Try and keep the photos as 'untouched' as possible. There are no limits to cameras or devices that you can take your shot with, but try to capture an image and then if you need to, adjust levels/saturation/color etc. in Lightroom, Aperture, Picasa, or some other editing program. If 'lomo' is your style and you want to use Instagram each week, then awesome. We just don't want to end up with heavily 'photoshopped' images that would be more for say, a marketing campaign than it would be for a frame hanging on your wall.

Rule 3: Not really a rule, just added information. Each week starts on a Wednesday with the new theme. You have until midnight on Monday to submit your photo to the pool. We start a new discussion on Tuesday morning so you can start voting. Paste your favorite picture in that discussion. By the end of day Wednesday we tally up the votes and declare a winner. That person is responsible for posting the next week's theme Thursday morning. Then we start all over again.
