About Free Comments

This group may or may not be for you, but it is most assuredly not about you.

It is not about getting comments or faves on your own stream. It is not about requiring comments on a certain number of photos to the right of yours in the group pool. It is most definitely not about obnoxious animated gifs.

Here is how I 'Flickr:'

Have you ever found an amazing photostream? Usually, they are already connected to the Flickr world with loads of existing comments and contacts -- and that's OK -- other times, maybe you'll find a diamond in the rough -- someone who is posting some promising photos, but with only a few scattered views and comments.

Sometimes, when I find one of those amazing streams, I go through it, leaving comments on various images here and there. I don't always go through to the very end, but far enough in to get a feel for the stream as a whole. No requirements, but let's say I usually go 10 pages in and leave comments on 5-10 photos.

How do you go about finding these streams?

Well for me:

Someone who left a comment on one of my photos;
Surfing my group pools;
Surfing Contacts' Favorites;
Surfing Explore;
Etc, etc.

I guess by creating this group, I'm looking for like-minded individuals who 'Flickr' the same way that I do.

This group isn't about the pool of photos. This group, by definition, will not have a pool of photos.

If you have any ideas or suggestions about it let me know.

I've looked, but if you know of another group that would be similar to this, let me know that, too. I might like to join it.

Bottom line -- leave all the comments you like on your your contacts, friends and family, but that's not what this group is about. This group is about finding a stream previously unknown to you and leaving a bunch of comments with no obligation for them to reciprocate.

All you do to give them a clue is leave the following tag. (i.e. please don't mass-invite your entire list of contacts -- it's kind of meant to be a 'grassroots' thing)

***********************************************************
***********************************************************

Here's an identification code to use, if desired. Probably just on the last comment you decide to leave:

Just copy and paste the code between the lines:
_________________________________________________________
Your stream has just been 'ambushed' by a member of the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/freecomments/">Free Comments</a> group. Please consider joining and 'paying it forward.'
_________________________________________________________

Which will appear like so:
Your stream has just been 'ambushed' by a member of the Free Comments group. Please consider joining and 'paying it forward.'
