About Flickr Turns 4
Flickr will soon turn four and as part of our celebration, we're hosting a "pin-up" photo exhibit here in San Francisco, California on March 15, 2008! We hope you'll join us in person, or by “pinning up” your own Flickr photo exhibit in a space near you!
“What is this 'Pin-up' thing you keep talking about?”
Add one photo of yours to the "Flickr Turns 4" group if you wish to take part (after reviewing and accepting the group’s rules). We'll print out up to 5,000 5 x 7” photos and pin them up on the walls of our celebration’s event space in order to create a temporary exhibit that's open to all. Think “salon style” with (hopefully) a thousand or more photos.
In addition, if you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, you’re welcome to drop by the space before the event and “pin-up” your own photo (check for times when the event space will be open). All photos that are “pinned-up” at the event space will be subject to our editorial discretion of course, and please keep in mind that the Community Guidelines will apply to the exhibit.
Please add your photo to the group by Wednesday, March 12th if you'd like to have your photo considered for printing!
Flickr Turns 4 is also an opportunity for participating members to exercise their curatorial skills. In addition to the event we'll hold in San Francisco, we encourage members to host their own impromptu exhibits to be shared with their local community.
To participate in the Flickr Turns 4 in the Wild, choose a few photos to print and display, and photograph the results. Post these photos of your exhibit to the Flickr Turns 4 in the Wild group, a companion group to Flickr Turns Four, by March 14th, 2008. We will project photos from this group on a separate wall in the event space throughout the evening of the celebration (subject, once again, to our editorial discretion and the Community Guidelines).
Of course, please only post photos from the group where it is legal to do so, and post the photos by some means which will not be damaging to the surface that you post them on. Please keep your Flickr Turns 4 in the Wild photo posted only for so long as it’s legal and not disruptive, and please remove your exhibit before that time ends.
