For me, "flickr" rhymes with "nose picker" without the nose.

Hmm, well, I used to say "flicker" but now that you've shown me "flick arr" I might start saying it like that.

I'd say it's light that's flickering, like a light bulb when it's on its way out... so it's flickering without the '-ing'. Just a guess.
Ah, and here is a reason: It's also 'uploadr' and I can't get myself to say it that weird... with an 'r' sound instead of the usual '-er' aound at the end...

I actually pronounce it "flee-kr", but with a short "ee" sound, and the "kr" is like the beginning sound of "crack".

flicker
Where I grew up, New England, it must be "flicka". Same in Australia & New Zealand, I suppose.

Most folk I come across call it Flicker and chuckle when I say Flickare. I don't suppose it really matters, if it did, Flickr would have helped us all out by now. My theory is that if it was meant to be pronounced Flicker then Flickr would have an e in it, regardless of whether the Flicker domain name being takenor not
I also pronouce Compaq as compaque. As a kid I always pronounced Nestles as it's spelt, only to find out years later that it's pronounced Nestley and I have had similar problems with Renault & Peaugot, but they are another story!
