It's not Firefox that broke it, it's the greasemonkey update that broke it. You can uninstall greasemonkey, then go to the greasemonkey website and install the June 2007 build of it.

I love the multi group sender, but it's useless for video because it pops up UNDER the video instead of on top. Is there anyway around that? I just love having an automatic "group" to post to without having to remember each one each time!

Never mind--just figured out the uninstall function. But it would be nice to be able to use it with videos.

Hi everyone!
I updated this script to make it compatible with the newest (and safest) Greasemonkey. Now the saved groups works again, and I added another "feature": it won't show the groups where the picture was already submitted.
You can download and comment about it here (because I don't keep track of discussions in groups).

many thanks to ricardo, the saved group selections work again.
ive also fixed a few other bugs in the script ( send to group menu no longer appears beneath flash video, clicking send to group button twice no longer sends you to another page, you can no longer use a blank name for the saved group selection) and added a new function, that basically saves your selection each time you submit, so your previous selection is now always available in case you forgot to save it.
the script should now work with the latest version of firefox and greasemonkey
and it is available from the usual places (see first post)

How do I delete a Saved group selection from the drop down box?
Posted 49 months ago.

to delete a saved group selection, u just need to click the grey [x] next to the selection you want to delete.
to answer another question, to see the "tip" again, u need to delete the cookie called "msgtipbeenseen"
ive updated the script again. ive added a group counter below the select box, to show how many groups you have selected, and also ive now disabled sending to groups that the pic is already in, the groups that the pic is already in will appear faded out, and you wont be able to select them.
the script now also works with all the international versions of the site :)

ive updated the script so it now works with group lists over 400.
btw donations are welcome, gm scripts dont grow on trees, they are the product of a lot of hard labour and a lot of time and energy goes into writing these scripts and bug stomping, testing, and supporting them. It would be nice if more people took the time to thank the authors of these scripts, with a donation now and then. just think of all the time these scripts save you, it would be nice to give something back for a change, rather than take take take all the time.

HOWEVER, can we please make the groups box not completely obscure the photo?
FOr me, the box does not float to the very right, but is instead placed directly over my image (a little ot the right).
Before, it was over the tags, which was fine. But it's hard to choose groups when I can't see the picture.

See copied post below. I am still having this problem myself today (6/23/08). Is there a fix? Or do we just ignore the "failed" message and hope they really posted to the group? Seems to happen with groups that require approval before posting the pictures.
mortimer? Pro User says:
The script doesn't seem to know how to handle the "photo put in the moderation queue" reply by flickr. It says there was an error, but in fact the photo was sent fine.
So the script works, but you shouldn't believe him if it shows an error with this message next to it.

i dont really see it as being much of a problem, the error message displayed is quite correct, and the api actually flags it as an error, and the script just displays flickrs error message. the image hasnt been added to the group pool, its just been added to the pending queue. nothing to fix really.

I have a problem with firefox 3 and the latest version of multi-group sender. It usually works very fine and there are even some handy new features (group searc, f.e.).
Unfortunately, once in a while, when I try to open the scroll down menu the script apparently starts fetching all my groups but in fact never succeeds in creating a group list...all it does is tell me that it`s populating the list and that I should wait...but the wait goes on and on and nothing appens...the process is blocked.
I thought that maybe this was happening because my photo was already in too many groups...I counted them, they were 63 or 64. I thought that maybe the maximum accepted was 60, so I deleted a few groups and tried again (first, I refreshed the page).
Didn`t work, the scroll down menu still refused to operate correctly.
Can someone help?

Me neither. It definitely wasn't the script.
I would, however, like to know how to make it SAVE THE GROUPING. I've just defined a grouping of 30 photo-pools for about the TENTH time.
Where is this data saved? How do I make sure it's saved? How do I flush it? I'm getting about a 25% success rate. It's getting really tiring.
If I can define a group, and keep my browser and/or computer from crashing and/or needing to reboot for 12 hours ... then my grouping will be saved.
But typically? This data, which takes a lot of work (eyeball-picking 30 out of 700 groups is damn hard) -- goes nowhere. It's saved for the session, but next time I go into firefox, it wont be there.
This is an example of one thing that should definitely be written to disk immediately.

If you select Tools/Greasemonkey/User Script Commands/Flickr Groups Organizer Backup Tags to Flickr Mail Datastore, an email will be generated to both Flickr mail and sent to your email address. The email contains a string for each group[ you established.
If you need to restore you use that string in the restore selection in that same path.
Unless you are changing groups every five minutes you can do this anytime you make a change and as long as you keep these emails you can always restore.
The same process works if you use the Contacts Organizer.

Nope. No fix. I spent all yesterday submitting vintage photos to a multi-group i simply called "OLD".
Today I come back - and the group is not defined.
This script is very helpful, but very unreliable. There seems to be about a 1 in 3 chance that a multi-group defined during a browsing session will still exist in a future session.

First of all, great work on the multi group sender! It saves me a lot of work and I've been looking for something like this for a while now. Flickr should implement this as a standard tool!
I have version 3.1 and I work with Firefox 3.0.4. Sometimes when I am trying to add a photo to another group the multi group sender window keeps saying "Loading Groups". It doesn't load the group for some reason. I've been trying to get my group list from yesterday and I still can't see it.

As there is a multi-group sender for a particular image... is there a multi-group unsubscriber for a particular image. Instead of removing one group at a time, it would be helpful to remove said image from multiple groups. If anyone has an info on this it would be helpful to know. And if it doesn't exist, it would add a lot of functionality to the multi group sender to be able to remove as well as add an image from multiple groups. Thanks! VoE

@various people wanting to be able to remove an image from multiple groups, ive added a new question+answer to the FAQ at the top of the page. am adding it here too
Q) How can i quickly remove an image from multiple groups?
A) Install my Group Pool Warn + Delete script, which lets you click the [x]s next to the individual group widgets on the right hand side of the image, and the image will be removed from those groups, without leaving the page you are on. Repeat this for each group you wish to remove the image from.
@MΛЯK if you close the MGS window, you can see the photo, reopening the MGS window restores it's state to exactly how it was before.

@Margiebean just for your information, its not a problem with the script, its a feature of firefox. Firefox has a shortcut for changing the font size, which is pressing CTRL and scrolling the mouse wheel. so i guess you must have done this whilst selecting your groups. the solution is not to use the mousewheel whilst selecting multiple groups, use the scrollbar instead, or release the CTRL key whilst scrolling with the wheel, then when you have found the group you want to add, press the CTRL key again and then click the group.
there might also be a way to disable the firefox CTRL-Mousewheel-font-size shortcut but i dont know it, i would guess it requires editing the firefox preferences in the browser's about:config page.
@IrenicRhonda thanks for the info, i didnt know that.
