12 Dec 08 - Please note: this group is for SOLVED mysteries, not unsolved ones. There's been a few postings recently that really don't belong here, and apologies if this hasn't been made clear enough in the group description.

If you want help to identify your photograph, there is a group dedicated to solving old photograph mysteries: What's that picture?. The perfect place to post your unsolved enigmas.

About The Astonishing Power of Flickr

Have you discovered valuable information, identified a person or a location or object, or solved a mystery related to a photograph or scan of yours - an old one especially - from the comments of other flickr users?

Have you found a long lost friend or relative because you posted a photograph on flickr, or left a comment on someone else's photo?

If so, you are invited to share your discoveries here!

Please post just one picture to introduce your story, with a link to a set - or put a unique tag on the related photographs and provide a link to the unique tag search results - if there's more than one photo. This will allow people to decide how interested they are in your story, and let them enjoy more photos IF they want to!

I'm sorry but its necessary to say this: you must only post pictures that you own - if someone else's photo resulted in your discovery, you can link to it in the description to your own photo, or invite them to post it here themselves.

Please note that this is not a group for unsolved mysteries - this one is for your success stories.

News: if you have unsolved mystery photographs, why not try the What's that picture? group?

Origins: So many kind people on flickr have helped solve mysteries related to my own photographs that I started to honour them in a special set, and I've come across many stories similar to my own on other people's photostreams. The hope is that this group will be a great place to celebrate these breakthroughs and let others enjoy them too.
