BTW: If you're an institution that has already registered or are somewhere in the middle of the process of getting ready to launch (eg. have signed the additional Commons Terms of Service agreement with Yahoo! Inc.) - you don't need to re-register.
Please holler here and we'll get back to you via FlickrMail / email individually.

Hi Fiona,
Sending through a holler. We sent through the Terms of Service agreement in April 2010, no news since.
Cheers

Hi Fiona,
I am trying to register our institution; however, upon hitting the submit button I keep getting a message stating to hold my clicks as Flickr has the hick-ups.
Is this a known problem?
How should I proceed? Keep trying to apply? Wait a while? Could it be that the application has already been registered, regardless of the error message?
I have been looking forward to registering for quite some time now and your help is much appreciated!
Thank you,

Hi Fiona,
Great to hear Flickr: The Commons is open for business again! I just registered on behalf of the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. Can you tell me what the time path looks like from here on?

Hello. Great news! I would like some information on the Flickr Commons and how to register my institution, the North Carolina State Archives! I tried to do it once before and it didn't seem to "take" so I think I need guidance!

Hi Fiona,
I know you're probably still busy with the submission queue, but could you maybe give an indication of the time span of the registration process and the outcomes?
Cheers,
Lotte

Hi Kim,
Please can you register via www.flickr.com/commons/register, the form should be working fine, if it's not working for you could you describe any error message you're seeing?

Hi Natasha
We don't have records for you as registered for the Commons - please could you head over and complete the details on the Commons registration form also?

Oh, I'd be thrilled to see the North Carolina State Archives join in! I've been admiring your flickrstream for a long time. (My PhD is from UNC, about a North Carolina girls' school in the 1810s--so I spent plenty of time in Raleigh!)

Hello Fiona,
I'm sorry if the question has already been answered elsewhere:
The Penn Libraries will be applying for a Commons account. We would like to keep all of the images from my personal account, which we have been using to identify images from our rare book collection. Is it possible to transfer a personal account into a Commons account? Or do I need to set up a separate institution account first?
Thanks,
Regan

Hi Regan
We do require institutions to have a dedicated account for Commons / No Known Copyright photos. Modern day photos (such as new exhibitions, events, photos of objects and non photography items) should be uploaded to a separate Flickr account.
We do have the ability to convert an existing account to a Commons account but we'd need to know that all the content is eligible for the 'No known copyright' license and ensure that the content fits into the Commons objectives to enable the sharing of world's public photography archives.
Hope that helps! We're hoping to get more of this information/FAQs online in the next months, so thanks for asking your question here - we'll make sure we cover it off in our documentation.
Thanks,
Fiona

Hi Fiona,
We registered with the Commons a couple months ago, and were just wondering what the time frame was looking like. (I believe we originally registered a couple years ago as well, but it didn't "take".)

Hi Pixel Wranger,
Thanks for your support! We have not heard back regarding the status of our membership in the Commons. I suspect that Flickr is very busy with the submission queue, but I'll check in with them again.
Thanks,
Chrissy

Hi Fiona,
The National Library of Medicine registered to be part of the Commons in August 2009. Since then we haven't heard back from Flickr, although we have contacted Flickr many times. Can you please let us know the status of our application and how we can move forward? We believe strongly that the Library would be a valuable member in the Flickr Commons.
Best Regards,

Hi all,
Is there still someone from Flickr: The Commons lurking around here? Or: does anyone know how to get in touch with Flickr: The Commons? It seems my emails are all being bounced.
Best,
