What's New, What's cool about the
The Field Museum Library Collection in the Flickr Commons

A little bit of background from their flickr profile:
About The Field Museum
The Field Museum is an educational institution concerned with the diversity and relationships in nature and among cultures. It provides collection-based research and learning for greater public understanding and appreciation of the world in which we live. Its collections, public learning programs, and research are inseparably linked to serve a diverse public of varied ages, backgrounds and knowledge.
Explore The Field Museum website: www.fieldmuseum.org/
The Field Museum Library
The formation of The Field Museum Library’s collections began in 1894 with initial transfers of books from the libraries of various departments of the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893. Currently, the Library serves the Museum’s staff, visiting scholars and the general public.
More information about the Library can be found here.
The Library Photo Archives
The Library Photo Archives collection comprises over 250,000 images in the areas of Anthropology, Botany, Geology, and Zoology. The collection also documents the history and architecture of the Museum, its exhibitions, staff and scientific expeditions.
More information on The Photo Archives is here.
The Library Photo Archives on Flickr
As part of our research and outreach goals, we are very interested in getting the feedback of the Flickr community on our photos, and we will be adding to our sets on a regular basis. To start with, we will be uploading the results of two scanning projects: Urban Landscapes of Illinois and 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. In the future, we hope to add some of our historical photos of turn-of-the-century scientific expeditions.
If you're hungry for more Photo Archives images, you can find them on Illinois Digital Archives:

The handcolored "Flower Children" set should attract some collage and costuming folks--I went through and tagged them all.

Thanks for thinking of me even though I went dark for a couple months :)
FYI, I tagged up a bunch of their photos last night.
We're really getting a rich collection of photos of the fair. For example, here's a series starting next to the Obelisk and Colonnade at the south end of the South Canal.

Closer, from the edge of the Basin (Smithsonian)
