Get out your kilts!

The Library of Congress has just uploaded 182 new photos to their wonderful Photochrom travel set, and these are all of Scotland!

So, a few quick Then and Nows....

Why your hand at it!

Don't forget that the National Galleries of Scotland is also in the Commons. It'd be neat to see any commonalities between their collection and the LOC's.

The Ailsa Craig then-and-now -- would that be a different side, or have the cliffs really disappeared like that?

I'm going to say a different side. I really set this up pretty quickly, so it may be well worth it to go search for better photos of that island, taken from the correct angle!

It won't be possible to replicate the Marischal College shot.

[Marischal College, Aberdeen, Scotland] (LOC) by The Library of Congress

New frontage was added in the early 1900s at the same level as the building shown on the left.
However, the building is now in the hands of Aberdeen City Council and large amounts of it have been demolished for its conversion to the new council HQ.

Here's the inner courtyard, taken on 18/04/2009

And here's the outer building, shown on the left of the LoC picture.
