Found this today, by Quasimodo:
Passing By
"A random eternal voyage through Photocrom landscapes. Click on the piece to view it in fullscreen. The images used in this piece are provided by the Library of Congress showing Europe and the Middle East as they appeared around 1890-1900. The images are part of the flickr commons project."

Yeah that's an awesome project/art-work. Quasimodo has been a contact for eons due to his creations... and that one is no exception! I would have shared it last week but I must have skimmed past the part about the photos all coming from The Commons!

Which sweethappymama got from tweaking these two Library of Congress images:
I also might add that the Carr Fork Canyon pictured above no longer exists. The mine, Bingham, outside of Salt Lake City, is now an open pit mine. This is what that area looks like today:

Well, Zyrcster, there might possibly be a way to acquire something like this, through one of the usual websites for sellers of handmade wares.... ;)
(I just set up a shop today, finally had made enough purses to have a respectable inventory. Everything of mine posted in this thread is available there now.)
Delete this if I've said too much, of course.

Two to show off today, another purse, and a set of paper-collage greeting cards, all using Commons images. The purse features suffragist Glenna Smith Tinnin (1877-1945), from the LOC; the cards feature a ferris wheel and ticket images from the Field Museum Library's set focused on the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893.

I went and just added the links to those two photos because I knew exactly which Flickr Commons images they were. (If someone used a baseball photo or landscape, I'd have a harder time doing that!) I'm a "when in doubt, footnote" kinda person anyway, but I wonder if some folks don't know how to make the links? Or they don't realize anyone is interested in what they're doing?
