About FlickR Resistance (Independent Flickr) :: Indie FlickR
Tired of interestingness, popularity, and the cheap aesthetic of "free" 2.0 art that smells more of an altered kind of commercialism?
Do you think that the most popular images on Flickr are absolute crap and have little or no true artistic merit?
What the hell is art?
Do you think that the work of art is an object that cannot be judged by a thumbnail and needs time, not in the form of quick looks, cheesy comments, and massified attention?
What else is there?
Then this group might be right for you.
Post your works that you believe are well-polished, of any genre, so long as they adhere to an idea of art that you have thought long and hard about.
Post images that you want to be considered seriously, with a critical eye.
Post your work that you think is better than the cheapened popular works you find in most places.
Works of any genre, medium, etc, shall be considered; what matters most here is substance beyond technical means. At the same time, there should be an awareness of technology--technology is the mother of modernity's art; whether we write a verse with pen or photograph a tree in a field that is surrounded by buildings, the technological enslaves us.
FlickR Resistance starts from this moral-ethical moment :: the realization that an action, when taken to assert one's right to natural sovereignty or freedom, is an action that is necessary for the betterment of an individual. The individual is a puppet of the human; inexplicably, tiringly, and hopefully.
Thanks!
