Question: Low Temperature Fire Available?

On behalf of a member

hello,

I'm sending this to you because you're an admin for a fire group on flickr, and you have a decent chance of coming across something like this :)

anyway, I'm looking for something that burns with a low temperature, as in, I want to be able to set fire to something and not have it burn hot. I'm thinking some alcohol is like this possibly? It also needs to be somewhat visible.

The fire will be against walls made of glass/black background to make a black mirror reflection, and possibly above some water on the floor if that is possible to do somehow. I'm doing a photo shoot with a band and I have a concept I'm trying to do, and I'd rather do it without doing a composite.

thanks ahead of time if you can think of anything!

methylated spirits is a cool burning product you can actually wet your finger and dip into it and set fire to your finger for at least 5 seconds before it gets too hot and needs to be extinguished. a web search is a possibility for this.

Alcohol burns hot compared to how bright it is. All fires are hot.

Lower flash point doesnt always mean cooler fire.

I'd just stick with the fact that fire is hot, and use something that gives a good brightness and color, like white gas or lamp oil or kerosene.

You can also use propane which is nice cause you can just turn it off.

Cirque De Soleil does a fire act on a shallow pool of water. Its pretty cool. I think the show is called "O".
