About FilmLives (or at least it's Undead)

FilmLives (or at least it's Undead) is a group dedicated to photography, both film and digital. Our name is in part a protest against the great film shooters oppression of 2006 at the inferior Website whose name we are loath to speak. For a time we took refuge at FilmLives.net from which we gain part of our name. Sadly FilmLives.net appears to have passed into history. My original goal in opening this group was simply to create a place where friends from FilmLives.net could exchange e-mail addresses when FilmLives.net went dark.

At first I accepted only former FilmLives.net members as I'm a reluctant administrator. I think the time has come to accept new members and I hope our current members will invite kind souls who love photography to apply for membership. I hope we can continue to have the atmosphere of friendship and respect that has made FilmLives (or at least it's Undead) a great place to share our love for and knowledge of photography.

A word about the name: I think all of us have read here and there that "film is dead." The "Undead" part of our name is a bit of tongue in cheek about the death of film and bit of Halloween nonsense, this group being formed in October of 2007. Many of us shoot film and many have our own conventional darkrooms. Many of us shoot digital as well. All are welcomed.

We are interested in the final result of photography such as prints, presentations (slide or digital shows) and books and such. We are also interested in the processes used to creating these, both analog and digital. Finally we are interested in the equipment used to create photographs.

Thank you all for making FilmLives (or at least it's Undead) a great place to celebrate our love for photography.

Best,

Dave Hartman
