11 May 08 - I would just like to reiterate that this group is for discussions of the nature/philosophy of film photography, it's history, it's interesting practioners, interesting exdhibits of film-based photography, etc. NOT about the technical aspects of film, for that there are plenty of other groups. Posts of a technical nature will be deleted.

About FILMISM

This is a group focused on discussions of film photography, particularly discussions exploring why film is still relevant (and perhaps superior) to digital photography. We're interested in opening up a dialogue on that subject, to find out the reasons people still continue to use film. Quality? The love of the process? Nostalgia? Luddite-ism? Tradition? Expense?
Although only film-based photographs are invited to be posted in the group pool, we're interested as well in hearing from people who use digital photography, why they choose it over film-based photography, what merits they feel it has over film.
We encourage all dialogue based around this idea. While there are other groups that focus more on the technical aspects of film photography, we are interested in the more philosophical and/or aesthetic reasons.
If you'd like, you can tag your photos with "filmism".

Also, Filmism is on Facebook.
