About Festival!

Every minute of every day, somewhere in the world, there is a festival happening. Post your pictures from festivals large or small, from Kumbha Mela to the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee!

Please feel free to use the forum to post tales of festivals you've attended, descriptions of traditions, recipes, poems and songs, travel plans and directions, etc.

Some guidelines:

What constitutes a festival? Many things do. We won't try to provide a rigid definition. Festivals may be new or old, large or small. Show us celebration, tradition, ritual, excitement, mischief and merriment!

Pictures of what? Well, almost anything! We're looking for pictures that convey the atmosphere of a festival. Pictures of you and your friends at a festival might keep the experience alive for you, but probably do little for the rest of us. Capture the sights and sensations, and share them!

What about music festivals? Tough call. Photos of some of the mayhem and revelry that is a part of these events might be acceptable, but we probably aren't interested in shots of Radiohead from a mile away...

Party pics? Photos of parties and celebrations not related to festivals don't really belong here. Check out fubuki and iv0's group All Tomorrow's Parties.

Christmas photos? It certainly qualifies as a festival, so we welcome Christmas pictures. But let's skip the generic tinsel and coloured lights and try to focus on specific Christmas traditions and rituals, both old and new. There are other groups dedicated to Christmas. Photos of the Santa Claus parade and your dog wearing reindeer antlers might be more appropriate elsewhere, thanks.

What about posting multiple images to the pool? For some groups this is a no-no, but it's quite possible that a single image might not be enough to convey the atmosphere of a festival. Post as many pictures as you think you should to share the experience.

Have fun!
