About Justice for Ferhat and Engin

Just days before his 18th birthday, Ferhat Gerçek was shot by police and left paralysed. Flaws in the investigation (including lost evidence, such as the t-shirt Ferhat was wearing at the time) mean that the perpetrator may evade justice. Engin Çeber was arrested one year later in September 2008 for protesting at the lack of justice in Ferhat’s case. He was beaten in custody and died in hospital of his injuries 12 days later.

Help us demand justice for Ferhat and Engin

What you can do:

1.Write a message to the Turkish authorities on a piece of card
eg. “I demand justice for Engin and Ferhat”; “Where is Ferhat’s missing t-shirt?”.

(nb. You could even make your own “t-shirt” (to represent the missing evidence) and write your message on the front).

2.Take a photo (if possible next to an interesting landmark near where you live or while you’re on holiday).

3.Upload your photo to this flickr group by 30 September 2009
Please caption your photos with the town/city and country where it was taken.

Alternatively you can take a picture with your mobile phone and send it to 07733 134 670 - or else just email it to us as iar@amnesty.org.uk and we’ll upload it for you.

We will turn all your photos into an album to present to the Turkish government at the beginning of October to demonstrate the international call for justice in these cases.

1. if you don't have a Yahoo! account, register with Yahoo! mail and then come back to this page

2. Sign into Flickr with your new Yahoo! login details and click 'create new account'. Upload your pic by clicking on the link that will appear.

3. To add a caption to your picture: Once you have uploaded your pic, click on 'add a description', and type in your caption. Please caption your photos with the town/city and country where it was taken. Save it.

4. Join this group

5. Add your photo to the 'group pool' - just view your photo on Flickr and you will see a 'send to group' link at the top of the picture (signed in group members will be able to see the link for this at the top of this page)
