For too long, Sydney's true personality has been shackled by the golden handcuffs of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Every tourist knows where to find these postcard scenes but only a local knows this wondrous city has more to offer in the nooks and crannies of the Sydney backstreets.

This Flickr group is for photos that capture the feel of Sydney. All those places that make this city bigger and better than just a big coathanger and a set of tiled sails. The vibrancy, the colour, the history, the life and the people. This is Sydney. Feel it.

For short films that capture the heart of Sydney, go to feelsydney.com. It's a totally not-for-profit website that captures the heart of Sydney through the eyes of photographers and directors while also showing the world the highly talented and creative visual artists Sydnay has to offer.

The photos of contributors to the feelsydney flickr group are streamed into the feelsydney.com website also. Each photographer is personally attributed and the feelsydney.com website allows users to click back through to your individual flickr page if they want to see more of your work. That's more exposure for everyone!

All photos must be from in and around Sydney, Australia.
No clichéd photos of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.
Try to make sure the photos say something positive about this city.
Give outsiders a fresh point of view of what they could discover in Sydney if they stepped away from the classic postcard sites.
