Bragging open, until we close it! Happy One-Year Anniversary! March 22,23,24!
|
Hey! It's been a whole year that we've had Feathery Friday! Can you believe it!!!
Feathery Friday! is about the people who come here every week (or when they can) to share their enthusiasm for birds, photography, and other people's love for the same things.
Feathery Friday! is about PEOPLE and birds and friends and having fun and wishing everyone a Happy Feathery Friday and a great weekend. We hate rules at Feathery Friday!, so we keep them to a minimum.
When you see the following picture in the pool on Thursday morning...

...the party begins.
This week is FIRST about all of the people, and then their beautiful birds.
-In the bragging thread, we would like you to tell us something about yourselves and, if possible, include a small photo of yourself along with the bird you are bragging on. Obviously, that would be 2 small photos in the bragging thread if you're taking a picture of a wild bird! Only pictures with birds belong in the pool.
Tell us what you want to tell us like maybe your first name, the country where you live, what birds are your favorite, and maybe what you have enjoyed most about this year's Feathery Friday! fun! Was it the cone-head cockatoo? Maybe you liked birds bathing or the baby birds best. Maybe an eagle caught your fancy.
-The birds uploaded this week are strictly up to you... whatever YOU want. Anything goes!
-This thread will turn into the bragging thread once the official Anniversary edition has started-
***That is me (Donna) with no makeup and three birds... a pretty normal sight. Lucy is on my shoulder, Ollie is orange, and Bobby is getting preened. We live in Texas. I was born in Idaho, grew up in Montana... and lived in Sweden several years. Hubby (Peter) is Swedish.
I started Feathery Friday when my friends Eva8 and Makeupanid and I realized that our birds weren't quite right for FURRY FRIDAY! :D Marge (Makeupanid) and Eva (Eva8) have been admins from the beginning and a wee bit later, Brenda (Brenda-Starr) joined our little feather-head team. Thanks everyone for all the fun, comments, birds, more birds, and enthusiasm. You have changed my life.***
So! Happy Anniversary! Your group, Feathery Friday! has been great fun.

Happy Feathery Friday

this is me and my little peepers. doing the old bathroom mirror self portrait. someone asked me why i bring the bird to the bathroom with me. i don't. but he followed me up the stairs, so i let him stay in the picture.
in fact, he follows me everywhere.
i live in gardiner, in central maine, and i love snow and winter, so maine is perfect for me. i was born in germany, but i've become an american citizen. i have a husband and a grown up daughter.
i was really happy when donna asked me to help with this group, because if there's 2 things i love, it's birds and photgraphy :)
thanks to all you other bird loving photographers for making this such a fun and happy group!

"Me ..." by Brenda-Starr

Hi guys ;-)
Well what can I tell you all about myself?
Well I'm sure by now you all know my name is Brenda, I live in the Blue Mountains which is in NSW Australia.
I have 4 sisters and 1 brother and I am the baby of the family which makes me spoiled rotten .. LOL
I have been with my partner Chris for 25 year this May and we have a 13 year old son Mitchell, who is the light of our lives. :o)
I don't have any pets now although I do have a regular flock of Cockatoos and Lorikeets that visit me every day. ... They are such a joy to watch and interact with, they will talk to me, scream at me when I'm late with their snack and sometimes they will gently nip at my fingers which I like to think of as soft kisses . ;)
When Donna first ask me to help admin Feathery Friday I was over joyed, as this is such a fun and happy group to be involved with and that is thanks to all of you! .... I get so much pleasure every week viewing all your incredible images.
(( Big Feathery Friday Hugs)) for everyone! ;-)

Oh darn it why has my computer crashed NOW!
This is me in the bathroom like eva- I have one with Loki in it too, (but it's on my crashed comp) because she usually does come in the bathroom with me, otherwise she screams wondering where I am!

I have always loved animals and liked birds but since getting Loki almost 3 years ago, I now love them. Same with photography, have always been into but more so since Flickr and digital. One day I was walking through my local park and discovered a bird bander with a Winter Wren.......next thing you know I was coming back and coming back, and since last Spring I have been in training with him to become a bander myself. I have a daughter Orcasforever who actually knew Peepers and Ollie and Bobby before I did! She's more into whales though, can't you tell by her name ;)
I was thrilled when Donna started this group in fact I think I was the first member! Looking forward to this Friday, I may not be around as much as usual but I will definitely be checking in.
Hey we're all good lookin! (she says modestly including herself!)

Okay, here I am in a mirror, as well. This one's my hall mirror and that's Banning on my shoulder.
I'm Kit. I live in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA. I live with three birds, a dog, a husband, and two daughters, one at college in NC and one in our local High School. Our flock consists of Merlin the Timneh Grey, Banning the Nanday Conure, Flicker our Pearl Cockatiel, and Tinker, our Border Terrier, who would like to know what's so great about feathers anyway!
I take pictures of my family, when we travel, and all over the Philadelphia area, which I think has some unique photo opportunities. I take as many birds as I can with a 300mm lens. My favorite local spot for birding is the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge down by the Philadelphia airport, along Tinnicum Creek. www.fws.gov/northeast/heinz/
I adopted Banning and Merlin from The Bailey Foundation, a wonderful companion bird rescue in the Tri-state area. www.bailey-foundation.org/
I really look forward to Feathery Friday every week. I like the people I've met here and appreciate their wonderful pictures of birds, both in the wild and those we live with.
Happy Anniversary, Feathery Friday!

Happy Feathery Friday

Yes I'm aware that I am hiding behind my little Shade (who looks a whole lot bigger on this pic..), but..I thought I might as well post this picture since I already have it on my photostream and I don't have to try to take another one.
I live in Canada and own two birds. Obviously a senegal, but I also have a lovebird called Piper. My parents own 6 birds, so the house can get noisy at times. We also have a cat, which gets run after by some of the birds..
I also have a younger brother.
Oh my..Shade's hatchdate is March 30th! Her brother, Nemo (my mom's bird) was hatched on April 1st. They'll be one this year.

Hi everyone! '
I'm Marilyn and I live in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada with my husband, our dog Zak and Baby Cat - I don't own any domestic birds, but did have a smart little parakeet, Perky, when I was a young girl - and could he talk!!
Now I enjoy all the wild birds - so naturally, I had to photograph their beauty - I started with a little Nikon Cool Pix, and have graduated to a Canon 20D - and my favourite lense it a Canon 70-200 with a 1.4 extender - I also enjoy photographing some of the wild animals that pass through my property here, my favourites being the whitetail deer - and I am hoping to improve my landscape and flower shots this year
I guess I started putting my photos on flickr about a year ago, mainly so my family could enjoy my photos - but last fall I discovered the group pools, and now I am hooked :-)
The only thing that gets in my way is this darn dial-up - we have been promised that most of us here in Muskoka will have access to high-speed within the year, so my fingers are certainly crossed for that day!
I really enjoy FeatheryFriday - a friendly group and I love looking at all the wild and domestic birds posted here - it's so nice to meet people from around the world with the same interests
so, Happy Anniversary Feathery Friday!

Tima is the love of my life. His 5th hatchday is March 31st, and we've been together since he was 10 weeks old. He thinks I'm his mother, except in spring, when he has other ideas.
He's very helpful around the house--with the garden (shredding tree prunings), with composting (shredding vegetable waste), and recycling junk mail (shredding catalogs).
We live in Swissvale, PA, which borders Pittsburgh (1 block away).

Hello. I am Jenny and I live in Southern Oregon. We have 40 acres and lots of animals. Four horses, one on the way, three parrots, four dogs and nineteen chickens. We have four grown children and two grandchildren, whom I adore!!!! What's crazy though, is I am always taking the pictures so, I don't even have one picture of me with our birds, so I'm posting a chicken photo instead.

Hi friends,
I'm Henry and I live with my wife, Jean, in Hanover, Pennsylvania. My son and daughter-in-law live in Florida and my daughter lives in Manhattan.
I sing in two choral ensembles, a church choir, and act in community theater - musicals are my favorites. As you may know, I also take lots of pictures of birds with my 300mm lens and 1.4 extender on a Canon 30D. I also work on local history projects and done a fair amount of genealogy. I also play pool in leagues, but my practice time has been limited as my picture taking has started to monopolize my time. Oh, yeah, I'm also running for Borough council so if you happen to live in Hanover's third ward vote for me.
I don't have any birds, but love them all like the Great Egret I posted this week which is the symbol for the Audubon Society.

Hi
It's so fun seeing everyone's pictures.. Brenda - I live less than an hour from you, I'm the the Hawkesbury area.
I'm from Canada but I moved to Australia about four years ago. We seem to keep aquiring pets.. I have 2 alexandrines that stay in our outdoor aviary, a lot of finches - the australian ones are so colourful, Hemi the sun conure, a few chickens and Ram our bernese mountain dog.
I started loving birds when I moved to Australia, and I was just so amazed by what we have here.. There is a huge flock of cockatoos and cronellas that live in the park near my house..and I love the rainbow lorikeets.
I love this group - everyone is so friendly, and it's great seeing everyone's birds.

Hi, my name is Pixie. I moved to Western Kentucky almost 3 years ago as a retired art teacher. I have always loved wildlife and there are so many different kinds of birds and animals here where I live on Lake Barkley. I participated in the Back Yard Bird Count this year for the first time and was stunned at how many different kinds of birds I see on a daily basis.
I have discovered a Bald Eagle's nest less than a mile from my house and check on the progress of these magnificent birds several times a week, from nesting to egg laying. I have watched these devoted parents guard their nest through all kinds of weather and now the eggs have hatched and both parents are busy feeding the youngsters. The nest is huge, and the babies are rocked to and fro on windy days. One of the juveniles from last year was there visiting mom and dad the other day. Hope to get pictures of the chicks, soon.
I shoot with a Canon S3 IS and a Canon Rebel XTi.

These are the best introductions, nice to meet you. This site is the one I have been searching for, so glad to be allowed to share here. Here goes...For years I had a fear of birds, pretty much as far back as I can remember. Things in my life changed drastically in '93, and after a time I got a job working at a Wild Life Care Center. Part of the job required reaching into the boxes and cages that were brought in and retreving and indentifying wild, injured, scared, sick birds of all types: Doves, Wrens (L.B.J.'s), Terns, Herons, Anhingas, Owls, Gulls, Pelicans, Cormorants, Hawks, ducks, raccoons, 'possums and other animals. Let me tell you, you have not really lived till you are eye to eye to a Red Shouldered Hawk inside a Raptor cage as you are hosing it down and feeding them. So, eventually I over came my fear of birds. And I must say that working there changed my life in so many ways, it is the best "job" (for the amount they paid it was almost volunteering) I have ever had.
My husband and I live in South Florida and at the moment are proud to call 10 parrots friends. Oops, can't forget Archer the dog. As far as hobbies go besides taking pictures, we like to take the Pontoon boat out in the Everglades and on the Inercoastal. We also like to get a work out in the canoe. We spent our honeymoon, (we were married in 2004) traveling through state parks in FL,GA, and TN in the motorhome so we could bring Bunky and Archer with us. My grandson is almost 2 and a granddaughter is due in July. Well, I am going on and on...anyway, glad to be here and can not wait to meet everyone.

Hello all ,
My name is frank and I live in Belgium , Antwerp. We (me and Frederik ) don't have any birds as pets. But I'm really fond of birds. Here in Antwerp I live not that far from the zoo , and loads of my pictures are made there. I visit a couple of times a week and the animals there feel like I really know them. It's fascinating to see that breeding and nesting season has landed. The toks are kind of my favorite. They always watch me with their intelligent eyes. I hope they really get some offspring this year. The male of this species , closes the nest with mud when the female is inside...but she doesn't feel like being inside I guess.I love making their portraits , often of rare and endangered species...
In France -our second home- we do everything to make the wild birds feel welcome. And I'm really curious on what's going on in their. Who knows , we got some new neighbours. Near this house , there is also a zoo nearby , Beauval. A zoo that started out as a bird park. So they also got some rare and special species. The nursery always seems to be full of little newborn guest in may, june.
I really like to capture birds when they fly , they are amazing aren't they?

Hi all. I'm Alice and live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA where my sister and I have 10 acres where we keep duck, geese, guineas, and chickens as well as a number of small parrots and pigeons.
And when I am away I try to find more birds to watch and photograph. Needless to say Feathery Friday is one of my favorite groups. Thanks to our hard working Admins and the members here who make this such a fun place to visit at Flickr.

Hello, and happy birthday Feathery Friday!
This is me witha King Parrot

I do not know his name, because he is wild, and only interested in me for the food i have in my hand.
I currently live in Australia, but have to move back to England in June, which is a shame, because there is only one typw of parrot in England, and HUNDREDS here in Australia, and I can't get enough of them. They are so charismatic and colourful.
One thing I hate to see is birds in cages. When you see a flock of cockatoos or parakeets in the wild you will understand how unnatural this is. Please don't take offense if you have a pet, I just hope you give him room to stretch his wings and lots to stimulate his mind.
I have a set of pictures called FEATHERY PORTRAITS of all the wonderful birds I have seen in Australia in a very short amount of time here. If you love parrots, come and visit!

Hi dear Feathery Friday Fans,
My name is Peter and I live in The Netherlands. Me and my partner own a little farmhouse and an acre of land where we provide a save haven for our critters. We share and dedicate our lives to five cats, two sheep, nine Muscovy ducks, four Canada geese and two Embdner geese. They are the love of our lives and moving from the big city to the rural country side was the best decision we ever made.
There is no better life than the life shared with animals, they bring so much unconditional love and fun times:-)
I try to post as often as I can, Feathery Friday is my favorite group here on Flickr and praize to the admins! A job well done:-)

Hello, I'm Tim, known here and there by a pseudonym that combines two of my all-time favorite author-illustrators, Maurice Sendak and Dr. Seuss, and represented by an avatar that alludes to two of all my all-time favorite scientist rockstars, Albert Einstein and Gene Simmons.
This shot was taken after I had been hit with a bottle thrown by an idiot while I was riding my bike. Chloe, our Cockatoo and Kiwi, the comical Quaker that we adopted, fell in love with and lost all in the same year (still bummed about it and guess I always will be) had come over to cheer me up as best they could.
My wife, Ashley, decided we were just too cute hanging out together and decided to snap a photo. The birds would always respond to me being a goofball, so that's what I did. Ashley snapped the photo that made me semi-famous among bird nerds around the world.
I've always found birds fascinating. I probably check Flickr at least once a day to see what bird photos have arrived. I love Donna's shots of the Cedar Waxwings and found myself incredibly envious. But, I have a feeder right outside our kitchen window so that we can watch our birds while we are eating breakfast on the weekends, and we get our fair share of cool avian friends - the constant presence of bickering House Finches, Sparrows, Mourning Doves, Carolina Chickadees (in and out as quickly as possible), Nuthatches, Cardinals, the Red-Bellied Woodpecker, and then the Blue Jays and Grackles bully there way in from time to time. I will start posting photos of them as soon as my camera returns from the shop.
So, I love our local birds, our pet bird, and all these birdies that I see in photos and films. I guess I am a major bird nerd. And I guess like the birds themselves, we bird nerds tend to flock together.
Thanks to the founders and administrators for such an excellent group, and thanks to everyone who shares photos of domestic and wild birds around the world.

Hi fellow Feather-Fanatics!
I'm Kendra and I live in the Florida Panhandle with my Hubby Scott (10 minutes from the Gulf). Although I've always loved animals & birds, my "obsession" with birds has really developed since moving here over 3 yrs ago. Perhaps because I lived in apartments for years & didn't have my own yard for birdfeeders! Things have really changed in my life - I used to travel frequently & always wore business suits... now, I have my own business & work from home where I'm frequently seen wearing my "duck clothes". heehee
My biggest "feather obsession" has got to be DUCKS!!! I have 2 pet ducks of my own and I frequently foster rescued ducks (as you may have seen on my Flickr page). It is very rewarding to be on the Board of Directors for the Duck Rescue Network and to "make a difference" in the lives of domestic ducks. So many people don't understand the difference between wild and domestic ducks... and they also don't know that BREAD IS BAD for ducks. If you want to learn more, here is our website: www.duckrescue.org
This picture is one of my favorites because it shows what great pets ducks make... and that they are very hugable! My boys are domestic ducks (Rouens) and not wild Mallards:

Happy Feathery Friday Anniversary all!!
Hi all, it's great to get to know some more about all the wonderful members of this group. I'm Michael and hail from Fort Collins, Colorado, a city of about 100k right up against the Rockies in the Front Range. I work in conservation biology on the primary tracking database for Colorado's rare and imperiled species and habitats, and provide information to a diverse mix of clients ranging from for-profit developments to government agencies to nonprofit environmental advocacy groups. I manage to do a bit of field work and am most qualified in ornithology (thus my initial interest in this group), ecology and botany.
Photography has been a primary hobby and passion since before I could drive and I'm now 37. I also enjoy birding, camping, hiking and travel. Feathery Friday has become a favorite group on flickr and I am proud to have participated in the group for a good chunk of its existence. Some of the friendliest and most inspirational photographers I've met on flickr have been via this great group.
I don't have any pet birds but my wife's mom has a beautiful cockatoo and wonderful parrot. I really need to take a photo to share with you all some day. The parrot is a mistreated bird she adopted and her cockatoo has a crush on me, hah. Wild birds are typically what I share here, I'm very grateful they are welcome in the group! :-)
Here's my wife and I doing some birding at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge:

As we have no children (we are god parents to my niece though) we instead have a cat who is certainly a member of our family (probably the only time I will post a fury here lol):

And I'll share a photo of a Sandhill Crane from our last trip to Bosque for my FF goodness:

I'm Debbie and I live in beautiful Washington State! I don't have a pet bird, so I had to try to get creative with photoshop and add one to the picture! I spend most of my name taking pictures of all the critters that love our backyard pond and of course, our cats. Now that there is a new grandbaby, she is getting her fair share of pictures taken as well!!
Congratulations on such an awesome group!

Happy FF anniversary everyone - it's such a cool group, isn't it? Sorry for such a small bird, but it's the only one I have with both myself and a bird - it was such a great spot I thought you might enjoy it -

I live, with wife Cheryl, on a beautiful old 52' Chris-Craft in False Creek, Vancouver, BC. Living here, and traveling with the boat on the coast, most of our bird encounters are on or very near the water. In fact, most of our photos period are around the water.
It's groups like this one that make Flickr so interesting - congratulations to us all!

here's an old artsy-fartsy picture of me 'n my lovebird, Passi:

she's being birdsat while we're out of town & I miss her muchly.
I'm from the DFW, TX area, but am going to school in Kansas (where my bird is from). we've only been together about a year and a half, but me, the boyfriend, and the bird are inseparable.
I get a bit jealous from time to time, as Passi has a crush on my boyfriend:

but when it's time to get spoiled with toys & treats she knows whom to go to! :)
someday I'm hoping to expand our family with a bird or so more, but... I'm still working on convincing my boyfriend that that's a good idea!

Every week I look forward to Feathery Friday and the range of images that are posted that celebrate the end and beginning of another week, by celebrating a part of our world that never fails to amaze me. Birds are a very unique part of the natural world that are celebrated everyday by so many, but when Fridays roll around the Flickr Feathery Friday group is the place to be!!!!!

Happy Anniversary Feathery Friday!!!!!

So happy to meet you all here! Thank you too for making this great group**
I'm English, bit of a migratory bird at heart though. Not just birds, but, cats and other critters live in the garden too.
A few years ago, I had the luck to be able to rescue, from an unhappy life, two geese, Goosetave and Esmerelda, Gus and Essie, or rather The Goonies. What a day, I came back with them, each in it's own cardboard box, afraid and unhappy, Essie couldn't walk, her leg kept collapsing. They had never been outside, never seen the sky, or grass, or water to swim in...! They were still quite young and scrawny, now they have filled out and swim like otters, yes, sometimes under water for several yards.

Here Gus is just learning to swim (they were dumbfounded by the water, I would stand in it, knee deep and coax them in, until they got the idea, later we got a boat for them to follow, they love that. Unfortunatley the cats have punctured it..)
It has been so great, to be able to share their lives with you.

See more pictures in thier birds of a faether set.
They are so precious and I love them!

I am Angela (aka Bumby's Mom in the bird world). I am currently a college student who is owned by a cockatiel, Egore, and a Pekin Duck, Bumby. I spend a lot of my time catering to the Fids and going to school. When I am home I like to watch Bumby sleep, he looks like the perfect angel then!! Of course I am partial to ducks, especially pekins. :)

Happy Anniversary Feathery Friday! What a grand group of people and birds! My name is Bev and I have lived in Raleigh, NC with my husband and three cats for the past three years. I don't have a domestic bird, but do have a backyard full of birds and love all of them! I got my digital camera in December and still don't have a clue what all the buttons are for. I've had a blast reading about all of you and actually seeing you! I can't believe how very hard it is to take a picture of yourself . . . and then, it's even harder for me to actually post it!! A big thank you to our wonderful feather-head team!! This is such a happy, positive place!

Happy anniversary. My name is Rainey and I live in Santa Cruz, California and love photographing birds! I love to spend hours with the Cormorants and Egrets...and still dream of capturing the perfect Egret in flight photo! I also love photographing the birds that visit my feeder.
I know what Bev means about taking an image of yourself...I took mine a few months ago for an online photography class I was taking, it isn't very good but I loved my little Moo.
This is a very nice bunch here at Feather Friday and I am happy to be a part of the fun!

Happy Anniversary!!!!
I live at Maroochydore, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Qld, Australia. I don't have any pet birds as such, though I have many varieties visit my yard. I have 4 adult children and 8 beaut grandchildren. I am also the servant to 2 dogs and 4 cats.
This is a very rare photo, as I never get in front of a lens. :-)
The Wedgetail Eagle is Sultan and I "adopted" him 3 years ago through a programme at Australia Zoo where he lives. (I pay a yearly ammount towards his upkeep).
Nice meeting all of you.

Happy Feathery Friday Anniversary Everyone :)!

Hi Everyone! I'm Robyn, and this is Gromit.
My husband and I live on Cape Cod. We have two sons and share our home with Gromit here, 3 Amazons, Timneh Grey, Sun Conure, A Senegal, 3 Cockatiels, 2 Budgies, 1 Mourning Dove, and 5 Java Rice Sparrows. We also have 2 four legged family members, Chihuahuas Meko and Nikita, and a Ranchu goldfish named Ico.
I've always loved critters and my love for birds blossomed when I took a cockatiel home from a thrift shop many yrs ago.
Thanks All for a fun, friendly place to share our love and interest for our feathered friends everywhere.

Hello and Happy Anniversary everyone. I'm Allan and I live in Dorset on the south coast of England. I was fortunate enough to be able to take early-retirement while I'm still reasonably fit and active and spend part of my time as a volunteer surveyor for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds at its Radipole and Lodmoor reserves at Weymouth. The up-side is I get to go to areas the general public cannot, but the down-side is that I have to get up-and-out well-before dawn: at 50.5 degrees N that means before 04:45h in mid-summer.
South Dorset has a good variety of habitats and some excellent birding "hot-spots". The only photo of me in my 'stream was taken at one of them - Portland BiIl, the south tip of a huge block of limestone sticking-out about 10 miles into the English Channel. I was proving to myself that I really did need to dust-off the credit card and buy some digiscoping kit in addition to the DSLR stuff I'm using in the photo. Sorry it's only a back-view of me but at least some of the Guilemots in the insert are front-on!
I enjoy looking at the deluge of photos in this Group. Thank-you admins for supervising it and keep-up the good work!

I am Rob, and I'm an alco... Oops, wrong room.
From Brighton, UK. I used to have a budgie when I was a child. I called him Bertie. I'm not sure why I named after myself, but hey, I was young. Then one day Bertie laid an egg and had to be renamed to Roberta :o)
I have no pets, although the parakeets you guys have are making me want one! I love wildlife photography, although don't get out to do it as much as I'd like. Being hampered at the moment because my telephoto is off for repair. Grrr.

I'm Lenny and Life Is Good when you are owned by Tango, the 8 year old Moluccan Cockatoo.
A transplanted New Yorker now living in Sherwood, Or. I guess I can thank my beautiful wife for Tango. She just came back from a writers group in New Mexico. One of the participants said that a parrot singing in the morning inspired her writing. We did our research and first decided on a Goffins Cockatto. The breeder also had a Moluccan for sale. Tango greeted us with his best "Hallo" This 4 month old Moluccan had me from "Hallo".
Tango's most used words are "Lenny" and "Olivia". For those who follow my photostream you would think Tango is calling the Australian Shepherd we own. "Olivia" according to Tango is my wife. We used to live in the country and my wife would open the back door and call for "Olivia" to come back. Tango of course called my wife Sharon "Olivia" from then on. The dog pays no attention to Tango shouting "Olivia". Unfortunately, the independent Aussie pays no attention to us calling her name either.
Many tnx to the admins and the other group members for putting a smile on my face every Friday.

Howdy every body, My name is Hank and currently I have three adoptees of which two live with me. I am a 52 year old divorcee
and I am employed as an aircraft assembler in Dallas, Texas.
I actually grew up not liking birds because when I was a little boy walking to school one pooped on my head. All of that changed about 7 years ago when my x brought home a blue crowned conure adoptee named Gracie. Soon to join the family were Xazu a y&g Mccaw,
Bobby an African grey, Mieko a sun conure, Nixon a mini mac,
Madison a dusky conure and Sidney my Military Mc adoptee.
Once these birds took over my life I rehabilitated to a deep love for all birds. Combined with my refound love of photography I have been outdoors shooting as many differant kinds as I can find.
Temporaraily I am staying with my Mom tilI I can get my own place and with me are Petrie (adopted) who is my boss and Popy another adoptee just added to the family. Both are Jendays and quite loud. :)
My Mom had to draw the line at two so for now that's all I have. Sidney stayed behind with my x because I couuld not bring him here and also because he and Xazu had bonded and I did not wish to separate them.

This is Sidney, Nixon and me. And yes I get pooped on a lot.
I still have visitation rights for the other guys and I see them often.
LOL, I also drop off birdy support monthly.
I would like to thank Ollie Girl for inviting me to this group as it has been quite rewarding to see all of the great pictures from the members. I wish I could show you Petrie and I but her previous owner had not properly kept her and she is afraid of anything I have in my hand and will attack. I have a few pictures but they are rare.

Poppy will be a challenge as he is not trusting me yet.
There are no favorites for me as I have grown to like them all and even house sparrows are enjoyable to me. Soon I plan to take my new lens out and find some buntings, wish me luck.
Happy Anniversery Feathery Friday!

Happy Anniversary to my very favorite Flickr group!!
I apologize for being late to the party. I had a death in the family.
I'm Bill Adams. I live in Waikoloa, Hawai'i (The Big Island) and am owned by two cockatoos; Marsh and Biggles.
All three of us have a sense of humor, though I'm the only one capable of typing without destroying the keyboard.
Here's a photo of me serenading Marsh and Biggles as they attempt to escape from the resulting noise...

Wow this is so great
I'm joe aka tie-guy this is my wife of 8 years lyn
we consider ourselves "tree huggers" "defenders of wild life"
Nature is so mystifying if you take the time to look at it and just stand still
We live outside of Jacksonville Florida (in the country)
and have several migratory paths that the flocks stop by and land in the yard like clockwork
no birds but have 4 cats and 2 dogs (no kids)
We are not outgoing anymore (old I guess) and love to come home to our fortress of solitude to get away from the world. Nothing like watching a red tailed hawk make a nest in your back yard and see all the stars in the sky at night.
Love this group and HAPPY Anniversary !!

Nice to meet everyone!
