just to clarify, this thread is not the contest , the photos have to be in the pool behind the start bird to be in the contest.

So take pity on a newbie and tell me if "behind the start bird" means put in the pool "before" or "after" the start bird. Right now there's only one bird "after" the start bird, but more than that here in the thread.

once i put the start bird in the pool, any photo after that is in the contest.
some people added their pics to this thread early early, and that's ok.
but they aren't really in the contest unless they're behind the start birds.
just so we have a reference point as to where the voting starts.

I think my bokeh on this Jay in my back yard is pretty good but even if it was horrible, I'd still love this picture for the expression on the Jay's face :)

I couldn't decide between my two favorites, so here they are. The first is Banning after a bath.
But in this second one, I wanted you to look at Merlin first, but also to be aware of my daughter's reaction to her, so the background is soft, but not so blurry that it's unclear. This was the trickier shot, and I have to admit that I'm kind of pleased with the way it came out.
