Cropping up all over the UK lately are a series of decorative shrouds encasing telecom masts, supposedly to help the offending telecom kit to blend in to the landscape.
These things make me very angry. They are incredibly poor imitations of life which glare out of the landscape rather than receding into it. What on earth is so bad about galvanised steel? If an aerial is an aerial, why make it look like a fake plastic tree? What next - spray painted roads to resemble mud tracks, fake manure falling from cars?
I have decided that the only way I can overcome my frustration is to document these masts. I hope to build a catalog of the varieties, please help me build the archive.
