About Fake Coins

Forgeries and counterfeits coins.

All coin dealers and most collectors need to be able to detect fake coins, to avoid buying them by mistake, and also to avoid selling them by mistake.
This group was seeded by Lawrence Chard of Chard Coins in Blackpool, England, from just some of the photos we take of fakes.

We have also included a few replicas and fantasy coins.

New members are very welcome to add their photographs of fake coins. Please try to add as much description as possible to help others to learn how and why they should recognise your coin as a fake.
