About Fahrenheit 451

Yes, this is something to do with my art work technique – engraving on paper, but actually this is an offer for creating a new group and tag named ‘Fahrenheit 451’ after the Ray Bradbury\'s novel and François Truffaut’s film from 1966. This is something to do with fire as creative power and . . . books.

Here I am like this Guy Montag, if your remember the ‘Fahrenheit 451’, Ray Bradbury\'s classic dystopia, frightening vision of the future where firemen don\'t put out fires but they start them in order to burn books. Yes, I am burning the books . . . because I like them. "There is more than one way to burn a book.
And the world is full of people running about with lit matches.", says Bradbury. I am doing this in my way . . . as impression of fire on paper.
Why I am doing this? Because nobody has "time" to read anymore. I have my secret cache of books and I recall on paper my impressions. So someone can catch the reed. Just like this Montag I have winded up from the law and my job as an lawyer in quest to find and join this “outlaw band of scholars and book lovers” who keep the contents of their books in their heads, walking libraries", men who have committed entire books to memory to share with those who would listen, waiting for the time society will once again need the wisdom of literature. I am immersing my self with fire drawing producing original artwork burned in paper . . . the art of burning paper. Pyrography is beautiful word and smells good, derived from two Greek words meaning \'fire-writing\'. In English speaking world is known as PokerWork. It is the art or craft of burning a design into the surface of a suitable material, using hot tools.

If you feel like an ablaze in our era of \'political correctness\' and shallow consumerism, you can be “ablazer” and please ablaze here with your images and comments.

You are someone who do share passion about fire-drawing, fire-writing in very, very wide understanding of this point like ability to make spark and flame someone with your creative fire. The requirements to post and be here are . . . you love ‘Fahrenheit 451’, you love Ray Bradbury, or the François Truffaut’s film (1966) and you love books and art, the art of fire, the influence of fire . . . the creative and purifying fire we follow . . .

I have to say something about from where comes this obsession with the fire. I am Bulgarian and we are still quite pagans strong in our traditions like fire dancing rite, known as nestinarstvo. The fire dancing (nestinarstvo) is one of the oldest pagan rituals in Bulgaria traced back to the Tracians, Bulgaria\'s most ancient inhabitants who worshiped the sun and believed in immortality. In a trance-like state, the fire dancers from the tiny mountain village of Bulgari still dance barefoot on burning embers, just as their ancestors did thousands of years ago. The nestinars dance around the circle, carrying icons and then suddenly walk through the fire. Their feet sometimes touch lightly and sometimes press down in hard circular motions, crossing the coals until they put down the blaze.

I am CODA Boris The Paper Burner 481*.

*451 degrees Fahrenheit is the temperature at which paper burns
