About Eyes of the World

Eyes of the World is an original, alternative, opened and independent Flickr's group which has like objective to present the best images with human and social content. You can publish here all your images and snapshots that, with a personal touch, be able to transmit us the joy of live in fullness, a message of hope, the fight for survival, human values... Pictures which synthesize the fight for life and Justice, equality, the defense of truth... or simply a smiling child that remember us that there are a lot of things to discover inside the people from anywhere, because "hapiness is easy"...

We have chosen, like icon of this group, a nice image of Wangari Muta Maathai, The Nobel Peace Prize 2004 and the first woman in East an Central Africa to earn a doctorate degree. Wangari Maathai, from Kenia, is internationally recognized for her persistent struggle for democracy, human rights and environmental conservation. It was while she served in the National Council of Women that she introduced the idea of planting trees with the people in 1976 and continued to develop it into a broad-based, grassroots organization whose main focus is the planting of trees with women groups in order to conserve the environment and improve their quality of life. However, through the Green Belt Movement she has assisted women in planting more than 30 million trees on their farms, schools, church compounds...

Eyes of the World (Los Ojos del Mundo) es un grupo original, alternativo, abierto e independiente, cuyo objetivo consiste en dar a conocer las mejores imágenes de contenido humano y social publicadas en Flickr. Tienen cabida aquí todas las instantáneas que, con un toque personal, consiguen transmitirnos la alegría de vivir en plenitud, un mensaje de esperanza, la lucha por la supervivencia, la exaltación de los valores humanos... Fotografías que han conseguido captar y sintetizar un momento singular e irrepetible en la lucha por la vida y la Justicia, la igualdad, la defensa de la verdad que acompaña a todo hombre o mujer; o que simplemente nos recuerdan que, tras el gesto alegre de un niño -o de la mirada de una amante o de la turbación del que sueña y padece...-, se encierra un insondable universo de vida que nuestra mirada inquieta se afana en descubrir...

Como icono de este grupo, hemos elegido una bella imagen de Wangari Muta Maathai, la primera mujer del África Central y del Este que consiguió el grado de doctorado, resultando galardonada con el Premio Nobel de la Paz en 2004. Wangari Maathai, natural de Kenia, goza del reconocimiento internacional por su tenaz lucha por la democracia, los derechos humanos y la conservación del entorno. Hace aproximadamente 30 años, fundó el "Green Belt Movement" (Movimiento del Cinturón Verde), que, entre otras cosas, ha movilizado a miles de mujeres a plantar cerca de 30 millones de árboles en África. Sus métodos han sido adoptados en otros países, combinando el trabajo comunitario y los derechos fundamentales, en particular los de las mujeres.
