About Extraordinary Asia
This group is for bringing out the special character and culture of places around Asia that are beyond the view of most tourists.
We want to stay away from the most well-worn photo targets, such as:
Cambodia - the Angkor Wat and skulls.
Hong Kong - the island skyline, from Kowloon or from the peak.
Vietnam - motorbikes, Hoan Kiem Lake and Halong Bay.
Singapore - the merlion and skyscrapers.
Japan - cherry blossoms, kimonos and nighttime neon.
Malaysia - the Petronas towers.
China - the Great Wall and the Pudong skyline in Shanghai.
So it's about photos that are "extraordinary" not just in the common "very impressive" sense, but in the strict sense of the word: truly out of the ordinary. Not necessarily strange or odd, but just something relatively original, especially in regard to the subject matter. Yet capture the countless extraordinary sights and stories Asia has to offer, that don't get photographed so often.
All shots must be taken in Asia and be family-friendly.
