About Exquisite Corpse

A group for surreal collages made from other people's images.
Make sure you credit your source images.

N.B. Anything other than surreal collages with source credits will be deleted from the Exquisite Corpse pool...
e.g. Miscellaneous Collages should not be posted to Exquisite Corpse, but should instead be posted to Image Manipulations and other surreal pictures to Utterly Surreal.

(see below for information on which images can be used...)

This group has grown out from its original home on fotolog: http://www.fotolog.net/exquisitecorpse
Our name comes from a surrealist technique in which several participants would contribute one part each to a final whole. The original version had each person submitting a word or two to create a sentence. The first sentence created in this way was, "The exquisite corpse will drink the young wine", and so the technique gained its name.
This page has more of the history of the technique.

If you want to join in as a contributor of source images, leave a message on the board with a link to a photo in your own flickr log.
If you want to join as a maker of collages then you can use the donated images on the board or read the info below on which other images you can use.

We make collages by choosing 3-5 photos more-or-less at random and Photoshopping them together in ways that feel right.

Make sure that you only use work from people who have marked their photos with a Creative Commons license allowing derivative works.
http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
this is a list of 'attribution licensed' photos which should be usable as long as you credit the owner.
http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/by-2.0/

i.e. you should give people credit for the photo you used, notify them you used it, and any works using photos stated to be "no-derivs" will be removed from the group...!

This is an experiment, so feel free to post suggestions as well.
Have fun!
