About EXPOSURE.Detroit GC Hospital
This is a public group for the members of Exposure.Detroit to submit images and get information about the Exposure.Detroit exhibit/gallery at Garden City Hospital.
Purpose of the photo gallery: To involve patients and their families with a colorful, inspiring and stress-reducing experience. Artwork has been shown to reduce the anxiety associated with the hospital experience, stimulate conversations and bridge the gap between hospital and home. It's purpose is to also raise funds for the GCH Foundation and to give exposure to Exposure Detroit photographers.
Exposure Detroit's role: The photographers of Exposure Detroit will provide positive, uplifting, stimulating and fun photographic images. All photos will be for sale and all sales will be processed by the Garden City Hospital Foundation. A portion of the proceeds (15%) will go to benefit the Foundation.
Exposure Detroit will print, matte, frame and hang your image. Yes! You read that correctly… Exposure Detroit is going to take care of printing, and framing your image. All you have to do is submit your best work that fits the submission guidelines by the submission deadline. A selection committee will select twenty five (25) or more images from among those submitted. Since we will be framing a large number of images at once, we have been able to negotiate a very competitive cost. Each artist will be responsible for the financial cost of framing his or her image. If your image is selected for display, you will make payment for the cost of printing and framing via PayPal.
Submission Guidelines:
- You may submit two images per photographer per exhibit cycle
- Each image must be positive, uplifting, inspirational, fun, stimulating. Avoid subjects that would be sensitive or controversial in a hospital setting (e.g. death, urban decay, cemeteries, political commentary, religious subject, etc). Landscapes and nature are always popular.
- Exhibits will occasionally have a theme. Submissions should fit that theme.
- Images may be color or black and white; landscape or portrait
- Your original image should have been taken with at least a 6 megapixal camera to enlarge with sufficient quality to the size we anticipate displaying.
- Images will be displayed in sizes determined by each show. The main size being enlarged to fully fill a 30x20 inch frame and aproximately 12x12 inches. To avoid having your image cropped, it should be resized to 10x15 inches at 254 DPI. If you have questions about this please ask.
- Exhibit is open to all Exposure Detroit members, even those who have had images in previous exhibits at this venue.
How to submit your image:
- Upload your image to your photostream here on flickr.
- Post your photo to the current exhibit thread in the flickr group Exposure.Detroit GC Hospital in MEDIUM size. If your photo is selected we will ask you for your full size file.
- Submit your image before the stated closing time on the submission deadline.
- By submitting you are agreeing to show up at the end of this exhibit to pick up your photo
All images will carry a price of $129. A portion (15%) of the sale of each photograph will be contributed, on behalf of each photographer, to the Garden City Hospital Foundation and the balance of the proceeds will be mailed to you.
We anticipate that the images in this exhibit will rotate about every 90 days or so. If an image is sold, it will be replaced by another image chosen from among those originally submitted for that exhibit. If there is sufficient time left in the exhibit, photographers who sell images may be asked if they wish to reprint and rehang their image. If they choose to do so, they will be asked to pay another printing and framing fee. Those images unsold at the end of each exhibit cycle will be returned to the photographer. Each photographer is responsible for picking up their image at the end of the exhibit or make arrangements for someone to pick it up for them.
