06 Feb 09 - Thank you to all those who have added images to the pool! I'm not going to be too strict about every image being from "exotic" sources -- for example, we now have some wonderful textile labels that were made in England for the African market -- but please try to keep contributions as non-western as possible. Russia and Eastern Europe are OK. As for Western Europe and the USA, please limit your contributions to images that were obviously created to target overseas markets.

About Exotic Ephemera
This group is for EXOTIC images or graphics on EPHEMERA.
Of course, the word "exotic" is relative but what we are looking for here are graphics from non-western sources such as Asia, Africa and Latin America.
For those who aren't familiar with it, ephemera is a fancy word for paper or paper products that aren't meant to last. That's the main thing to remember. If it was meant to last -- like some artwork on paper -- then it's NOT ephemera. Ephemera must be ephemeral! Let that be your mantra!
Some examples of ephemera are labels, matchbooks, advertising, handbills etc. Photographs are not considered ephemera unless the photographic image is part of a larger work such as a label, etc. Book covers are okay as long as they are paperbacks.
The original description for this group didn't point out the ephemeral nature of ephemera and some members began uploading artwork on paper. Please, don't be offended if your offerings were deleted. This group is for EPHEMERA.
If you have any questions just send me a "Flickr mail". Thank you for your contributions!
