About Exceptional Wedding Photography

CHANGES to accepting submissions:
A few small changes as follows:
* No spot/selective colour will be accepted under any circumstances.
* Detail images are rarely accepted. To be accepted, they must be perfectly lit, composed and have sharp focus.
* If your image is refused once, it will continue to be refused. If the one admin approves an image after it has been rejected by another admin, it will be removed from the pool. Please do not resubmit - it isn't pleasant rejecting the same photo 5+ times.

This is a group to highlight wedding images from around the world that provoke an emotional response; a smile, a laugh, a tear. Photos may have excellent use of lighting and/or movement and strong composition. They might be posed, directed, candid or photojournalistic but all of the photos you see here will have a 'special' quality that sets them apart from other wedding photos.

There have been many photos submitted to the group that are truly beautiful; well composed, well lit etc and all have been shot by talented photographers but they have been rejected - simply because they don't have the 'x' factor.

So what is the X Factor?

For me, an image has to immediately catch my attention as a thumbnail - enough that it compels me to open the image (all submissions ARE opened regardless). Next, I want it to be better than expected and give me goosebumps or even a pang of jealousy that I didn't take the shot myself. I want it to provoke an emotion and make me say, "WOW", "awww" or "oh!". If a photo can move me to such an emotional response, it is accepted to the group.

If your photo isn't accepted, it doesn't mean that it's a poor image. It could simply mean that it's an image that has been done many times before, or it could have something small about it that detracts from the images such as overexposure, subjects with odd expressions that don't suit the image you are trying to portray, composition that is close but not quite or it could simply just be a 'parent pleaser' - something beautiful that Mum and Dad would love to have on the wall, but not necessarily provoking an emotion or 'exceptional'.

Please keep submitting photos and inviting people to join. There are so many incredible photos from around the world that I haven't even found yet and I would love to have them here.

Thank you for your support of this group.
