About Excellence in Scenic Landscape Photography (Invited Photos Only)
This group was inspired by the Excellence in Floral Photography group and Excellence in Avian Photography. Our goal is to create a high-quality pool of images that are truly breathtaking and represent expertise in the art to.
What is a landscape?
"A landscape photograph encompasses the scene around us. It could be a picture of a "grand landscape," a great, majestic sweep to a far distant horizon; or it could be an intimate landscape." John Shaw
What is Excellence? I will refer to John again for another fitting quote
"When art and craft are united in photography, the very best pictures are produced, images that affect us non only visually but also deeply in our minds and memories" John Shaw
The purpose of this group is to contain excellent landscape photos where the predominate feature is land. The landscape should be excellent in and of itself, but various extras like sunsets, lakes, streams, oceans, etc can make a great difference in the visual appeal of the photograph, and should not be shunned.
However, the primary focus of a photo to invite to this group should not be the one
of those extras. If in doubt, feel free to ask for an opinion from one of
our admins. It disappoints people less to not be nominated for posting to the pool,
than to be denied for quality control by one of the admins.
PLEASE invite with discretion. We only want photographs that most if not all people would consider worth printing, framing, and displaying proudly on their walls.
If you can't fav it yourself, don't invite it. Well done and non-obvious tone mapping and/or HDR is acceptable.

Once you become a member of ESLP, you can post invited photos to the pool directly by using the "Send to Group" link above the photo.
Please remember that each photo you post to the pool must have an invitation from someone other than yourself. Photos submitted without an invite are denied and left a warning comment.
If your photo is denied from the pool in error, please contact an admin through the "Questions/Suggestions from Members" discussion thread and an admin will look into it.
