Buth,
You already know how dear Flickr is to me. I think it is one of the best tools out there, and it's obvious from the number of folks out there using, that I am not alone. My first experience with Flickr was with a cell phone, a blogger blog and a cattle drive and you probably know how much fun that was for me. I also used it to document our meetup at last years TESOL conference in San Antonio, and I am hoping that someone will do the same this year at the Tampa TESOL. I think this is an awesome group idea and can lead to great tool for presence building. I encourage folks to set up even a free account here. You just can't go wrong.

I'm doing some creative writing lessons and at the moment some of the learners are writing imaginary diaries of people that cross their paths during the day (from the point of view of that person). Using flickr could in someways add a feature because they could be asked to read the diary extracts and match to images of people. Might have to adapt the task a little and get them to find suitable photos of the "characters" first, but worth a try?
Apart from the "familiarisation" aspect of software like this there are endless ways that it could be used from creating holiday portfolios to spot the difference.
My only word of warning would be to make sure we offer a balance in the use and not overuse it in our enthusiasm :-)
