Creative shapped bokeh, the Cokin way

Okay, I made this when I worked on photo for HBW. But I think it will be useful for anyone here too :)

For creative bokeh, instead of just find a way to stick paper in front of your lens. I found it's easier to just use Cokin Filter Holder and then cut the paper to be the same as filter size, cut the hole for any bokeh shape you want. And black work better than white paper.

Here I just printed on photo paper.

then just slide it in the holder like this. Please notice that characters have to be reversed from the outside.

After this session, I need a lot of drink :)

And this is the result of what I did. The difficulty here is how to position foreground subject to be in focus while keep background light out of focus just enough to bring out custom bokeh shape !

Oh no, it's that HBW again !

Thanks for sharing!!! I tried it!!

This is my first attempt at anything like this(at 4am today)... I don't have a filter holder so I just taped it on... and I colored the paper black with a black marker. haha.

next time, I'll make it look better. :p

Just a simple question, how big should the pattern be? I'm guessing it shouldn't as big as the glass, rather closer to your aperture size maybe?

i never actually test it out. but just smaller than front diameter of your lens, but not too small, i think :)
