About European Orchids
Orchids from Europe and mediterranean area, photographed in their natural environment.
The purpose of this group is to show european native orchidaceae.
The key is not to show orchids photographed in europe (for example naturalised orchids like bletilla are not admitted) but instead orchids that lives also in Europe; this means that photos of calypso, cypripedium or spiranthes taken in North America or Asia are welcome.
In the first thread of the forum you'll find a list of species admitted, the source being the guide by Pierre Delforge "Guide des Orchidées d'Europe, d'Afrique du Nord et du Proche-Orient".
in order to help people recongnising orchids, please put always the full name (genus, species) in the name or description of the picture and the genus in tags.
While the group is an invitation only, everybody is welcome.
If you find an interesting european orchid shot - especially of ophrys - please comment the photo with the text below:
