About Eurocities Competition - Focus on Manchester
We are launching a competition to find Manchester 's hottest new photography talent. All you need to do is submit an image, which shows the city in a new or different perspective and a short description of where and why the photograph was taken.
The winning entry will chosen be a panel, and will be published in a photobook of European cities later this year.
The book, which is being produced to mark the 25th anniversary of the Eurocities network, will be called 'Your city - your view' and will include images taken by young people across 140 European cities.
The winner will be asked to provide their portrait photograph, name and age. We will then submit your image to Eurocities as Manchester's contribution to the photobook, which will be reviewed later in the year by a professional photographer.
When taking your photograph try to think about showing a different perspective of Manchester, which illustrates both people and place. Remember - we are not looking for the best photographs from a technical perspective - but which show Manchester in a new or different way.
People aged 15 to 25 are eligible to enter, and entrants can submit up to three photographs. Please see below for the technical specification.
To submit an entry, simply add your photograph to our Eurocities competition Flickr group.
The deadline for entries is Sunday 22 May 2011. Judging will then take place and the 3winner will be asked to submit their portrait photograph, name and age in time for the photograph to be submitted to Eurocities on Wednesday 1 June.
Copyright will remain with the photographer, but by entering the competition you are giving Manchester City Council and Eurocities reproduction rights for the image.
Technical specification: please submit your image as a high quality jpeg or better
