About Essex Windmills

This group is part of a project to research and preserve the windmills which have long been a evocative feature in the Essex landscape. It is a place to collect photographs of standing windmills, mill mounds, ruined structures and anything that survives!

We need people to go out into the field and take photographs, please get in touch if you need a list of sites, a map, or indeed any other information on the project.

Only by documenting and researching these remains can we protect them from vandalism and insensitive development. ALL YOUR HELP IS APPRECIATED!

Please get in touch for further details, by contacting Laura Belton on 01245 437613 or laura.belton@essex.gov.uk

The group has been created to enhance a project funded by the Essex Heritage Trust, and is being organised by a small section of Essex County Council, known as the Historic Environment Record (HER).
