You also , at least I couldn't, access it at all. It's on private property. If anyone knows of a way to access it, let me know.

Wally, or anyone for that matter. So today at work we were talking about GPS devices and I thought about the site you posted here. I was wondering if anyone has a GPS unit and what expierences they've had with it?

I have one for the car, and a smaller handheld one. If you get one make sure it is "WAAS" enabled they are much more accurate that way.
As far as longitude and latitude points go while it is a handy reference point I find it hard to search for things that way. The system for the car is nice because you can enter a destination point and it will tell you how to get there and give you an ETA. If you are on the road a lot with work like I am and need to go to a bunch of different places it is great. On the other hand if you are not on the road that much I think that Mapquest is far cheaper and just as handy for a few trips a year.
The handheld one is very nice for hiking and wandering around in the woods off of the path. You can set waypoints along the way and always retrace your steps back to the car and know just how far that will be. If you get lost or hurt, and have a cell phone (and can get a signal) you can also use your phone to call 911 and tell them just hwere you are.
Both of my units by the way are Garmin and I am very happy with them

I see that some handheld ones are pretty cheap and I see that some people actually make a game of visiting preset places and things..Sound like a fun excuse to get out in the woods with some friends. You mind me asking which model it is?

one of our members was looking for falls in Erie County. I really don't have any ideas, but I thought someone else might.

Says you can access the region with permission.
As far as a handheld GPS goes, you really can't beat a Garmin.
