EOS 5D / 5D2 Eyepiece magnifier.
 |
I think it would be helpful to get a bit of magnification on the viewfinder. It certainly wouldn't do any harm.
Between 1.2x to 1.5x would be enough to help a lot with focussing and still enable the whole screen to be viewed, I guess.
This guy used a Nikon eyepiece and says it work well:

Does anybody know of an alternative or an official Canon version? I don't really want an angle finder - seems a bit cumbersome, although if you have good experience of one, I'd love to hear about it. Is 2.5x magnification a bit much? It seems like it would cut the corners off...

Thanks. I have searched eBay already, of course...
The Tenpa looks very interesting. Anybody here used one on a 5D or 5D2 or 1Ds?
I ask, because the already quite large viewfinder may get corner clipped by the magnifier, as is the experience of koji kawakami in the link I posted. Most of these are obviously designed for crop sensor viewfinders. I just want to check first and make sure...

Sometimes I use an angle finder, a cheap version. It has a magnification up to 3x.
More often I switch my 5D2 to Liveview and enlarge it to 10x.
