The winner of the Atmosphere contest is "You Left Me" created by Elija James

Elija James recently won our first contest Atmosphere with his contribution "You Left Me". To learn a little more about the eye behind the camera we had an interview for a short bio, here's what he had to say.

1. How old are you?
14 years old

2. What are your usual past times?
Running, reading, drawing, writing, and of course, photography.

3. What camera did you start out with? and what camera are you recently using?
I started out with a simple Kodak C330 point-and-shoot. Last year I bought myself a Nikon D40, and I still use it today. When I start to work, or have a reliable way to make money, I hope to upgrade to a better Nikon.

4. What got you interested in photography?
I really don't know. I guess there is a stage in everyone's life where they want to start taking pictures, and mine hit when I was around 12. My aunt bought me one of those crappy mini-cameras and I played around with it. My parents were impressed and bought me a better camera. I was really into music and thought it was cool when bands took pictures of life on tour and stuff so I thought I'd do the same in my own life. From there I just kept going, and now here I am.

5. Where do you find inspiration for photography?
It depends.Most of my inspiration comes from things I hear or think about. Other days I just have a deep feeling that I need to portray. Other than music or literature, I tend to get inspiration from other artists or photographers. If I see something I admire, I'll try to make the concept or technique my own. A combination of other photography and my own feeling at the moment spark up almost all of my ideas.

6. Do you have any upcoming projects people should be watching for?
Nothing completely organized yet. I am currently looking for new models, and such. In the future I plan to break out my wolf mask again and do a series on school life. Besides my school concept, I don't have much planned. I am still trying to think up something new that I haven't done before, something challenging, but so far nothing has come to mind.

7. What are your top three favorite groups to post your photography?

I tend to use these groups the most:

Emotional Concepts (honestly, most of my photography is very emotionally driven, which makes them a good fit for this group)

The World Through My Eyes

Any group that has to do with Teenage or Young photographers mostly because I love looking at things other people my age are coming up with, and see if I am up to par.

I think its pretty safe to say Elija is a very interesting photographer, I can't wait to see what his next works will consist of! That concludes the biography and I encourage everybody to be keeping their eyes open for the next contest!

The point of this group is to get a mixture of good quality, creative, conceptual, emotion portraying photos, the more intense the better, all members are encouraged to invite anyone they feel has portrayed an emotional concept (although its not required) commenting is optional, and have fun, there's only one rule here and thats no nudity unless it's artistic.
