About El Zota Biological Station El Zota is a biological station situated in the Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica. The nearest large town near El Zota is Cariari, Costa Rica. El Zota is home to many birds, herps, insects, and mammals. Israel Mesen, a naturalist at El Zota is working on a national study of Great Green Macaws (Ara ambigua) that live at the station.
