About Elmhurst Queens NYC
All photos and discussions related to that neighborhood in Queens, New York City, sandwiched between Jackson Heights, Corona, Rego Park, Middle Village, Maspeth and Woodside, known as Elmhurst. Starting at the express subway station at 74th St-Roosevelt Ave, the boundaries of Elmhurst are Roosevelt Ave, Junction Blvd, the LIE, and finally 74th St, which returns to the point of the beginning. Some zip code maps show Eliot Ave below Queens Blvd as the southern boundary, but I am told there was a zip code correction and now everything on the other side of the LIE is considered Middle Village.

Elmhurst was probably named for the elms that lined Broadway in the late 1800s when it was renamed from Newtown. Due to pollution created by street lamps, the elms died away but the name remains.
