About Electricityscape
This is a spinoff of the world famous Wollongong Pictorial Mafia group.
The aim is to find signal boxes and transformer boxes in the Wollongong area ( and beyond) which have been decorated by artists.
Its wonderful that people have taken the time to decorate them. The ideas, design and skill involved varies wildly from one to another, but to me they are all great in their own way. Its a kind of modern twist on the old idea of folk art; taking something that is useful and embellishing it, rather than art for arts sake.
We think some were from the RTA Art project from 2004-05 when 50 boxes were painted ..but many more have been painted since then.
Any more information and any pictures of this artworks will be warmly welcomed..
