About The Docufest Project

In 2011, a group of photographers and videographers set out to collaboratively document The Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury, Michigan.

They invited others to contribute and participate, and the first attempt at a crowd-sourced gallery of imagery was created here on Flickr, with the help of a social media push from the festival producers.

The docufest project continued in 2011 witht he Hoxeyville Music Festival in Wellston, Michigan, The North Coast Festival in Chicago, Illinois and made a cross-country trek to the playa for the Burning Man Festival in Black Rock City, Nevada.

Throughout that time interest for the project grew, additional photographers joined and contributed, and the project continued to evolve. What if we attempted to document an entire summer's worth of images?

As the project morphs and grows, we invite you to share images from other festivals, participate in the discussion, and help create a living archive of imagery curated to the fantastic, transformational places that we explore together.
