About Edmonton's Candy Cane Lane

This group is for pictures of Candy Cane Lane in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Candy Cane lane was started in 1968 by a small group of residents in Crestwood Community. As with most things it started off small with a few houses putting up some impressive light displays. The spirit spread to other residents up and down 148 street from 100 avenue to 92 avenue where today more than 10 city blocks are now officially considered being on the lane. It is all done on a volunteer basis and there is no commercial or municipal sponsorship of any kind. Over the past few seasons another group of residents on the lane thought that with so many visitors coming to enjoy the sights it might be an idea to give the visitors an opportunity to show their Christmas spirit and ask them to bring non perishable food items to drop off for the Edmonton Food Bank. This has proven to be a raging success and tens of thousands of pounds of food is collected for this worthy cause . If you plan to visit this year please remember to bring something to help out the less fortunate in our community.
